Upgrades

Undoubtedly PC’s can be had for very cheap today. All of those cheap PC’s have one thing in common that turns them into Virtual Sloths. Cheap Hard Drives!

Good news however, SSD hard drives are dropping in price every day, and one of the most substantial upgrades that you can make to ANY PC is to upgrade that Hard Drive to an SSD. You will see real-world improvements of around 10 times. That is a Thousand percent increase in speed! Even better news is that in the right hands the upgrade is painless and can be performed in less than a couple of hours.

I will be attempting to make at the bare minimum Weekly posts to this page about new offerings, tech tips, and general useful computer advice.

For those who are interested in upgrading for Free to the new Windows 10, Beware! There have been lots of good reports, but a couple of key things need to be pointed out:

• Windows 10 has a small footprint, and is designed to be fast. However, all upgrades even to SSD are noticeably slower that what you can get from a fresh install.
• Some upgrades are going bad and require a re-install to fix.
• There is no real advantage over a good working Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 machine. Unless there is a very specific feature you are wanting to take advantage of I would hold off.
